Issues I deal with

Couple & Relationship Work
Committed relationships are hard enough to maintain but with added challenges of modern day living, couples can face a variety of problems.
If left unaddressed the issues can snowball in to problems that can damage any 'good enough' relationship. I offer an in-depth analysis of each couple or individuals' unique issues and provide support in helping my clients bring about changes to improve their relationships and quality of their individual lives.
I invite my clients to have an initial consultation after which they are either offered regular weekly sessions or an appropriate referral is made based on the clients' needs.
Sexual relationships are often more complicated in committed relationships, for a number of reasons and could be affected by monotony and/or life stage challenges like a growing family, menopause, fertility problems or unemployment. These can be further complicated by mental health challenges like pre or postnatal depression in mothers and less known but not uncommon challenge of perinatal depression in fathers.
First time parents often find themselves under enormous pressure to be 'perfect' and even as they struggle with new routines, sex often has to take the back seat. Some of the work then is about helping a couple reconnect as sexual partners which can in itself be a big hurdle.
I deal with each individual as a person, rather than attempting to fit a client in to a specific way of working. This requires, what is called an extended assessment of the clients' issues after which a joint plan is devised to help with a person or couples' difficulties.
